Biography:
Cindy Gard–Koizumi began her college years in graphic design and eventually transitioned to fine arts with an emphasis in ceramics. During her 5 years at Northern Illinois University, Cindy was awarded many opportunities including: an Apprenticeship in mold making, a job as the ceramic studio Lab Technician, juried exhibition acceptance, and pottery sales and fund raising events.
While in college and beyond, Cindy worked as Adjunct Faculty at Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC), teaching Art Exploration for 5–7 year olds and Pottery Wheel–Throwing for adults.
After college Cindy has continued to excel in her various job titles. Some of these include: Owner (Flowing Expressions Pottery Studio), Director of Marketing & Wholesale Accounts (Art Clay World, USA), Inside Sales and Customer Service (Shimpo Ceramics), Senior Instructor (Art Clay Silver), and Assistant Gallery Director (MVCC).
Cindy currently freelances out of her home office/studio. She provides services such as; advertising design, marketing consultation, photography, and private lessons in ceramics and jewelry making with Art Clay Silver. Cindy also designs and sells jewelry, photographs and ceramic sculpture. |
Philosophy:
Cindy’s teaching philosophy is two–fold. She believes that every student learns differently therefore her methodology is altered accordingly. Cindy also believes that environment is the key to creativity and learning; consequently she provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere within which students are able to absorb information and explore the creative outlet.
